Arizona Get-Out-The-Vote Maps

FairVote2020 has developed an interactive map showing turnout by precinct in Arizona for the 2000 presidential election. Another map shows results by 2000 precinct in a head-to-head Bush-Gore contest. Blank areas on the map have no population or missing data.

Additional maps include census data on poverty, housing and income. Change maps by clicking the drop-down menu under "Compare Maps" on the left.

At the end of this page is a link to Adobe maps showing nonvoters and 2000 turnout rates by precinct for Arizona cities with populations greater than 10,000. There is also a link to a second set of maps for the same places displaying Bush-Gore by precinct. Use the two sets in tandem to help target your canvassing efforts.

Map 1 (initial map) -- Turnout by Precinct in 2000 (18+ Pop)

At a scale of about 5 miles, the number of voting age persons (by town or city) who did not vote in the 2000 presidential election is displayed in purple boxes. This number includes both registered and unregistered persons and has not been adjusted for non-citizens. Pie charts display in areas with significant minority populations, showing race/ethnicity components for the over 18 population.

Click on the INFO tool and then on the map for a pop-up window displaying precinct-level turnout and political data. Click on ZOOM TO and then on the map to display neighborhood-level (block group) socioeconomic data in a table beneath the map image.

Note: Block group boundaries are displayed as thin blue lines in Map 1. Precinct boundaries (green lines in Maps 1 and 18) cannot be displayed in Maps 2 thru 17

Birds-eye view of turnout for the 18+ population in the 2000 general election. The numbers displayed in purple boxes show unregistered 18+ and non-voting registered voters, i.e. everyone over 18 who did not vote. These maps match the default map in the interactive map described above.

Bush-Gore by precinct (head to head contest excluding third party candidates). The numbers in boxes show votes cast for the two major party candidates.

Bush-Gore Precinct Maps

Bush-Gore thematic maps by precinct have been uploaded to the following interactive maps, accessed under the "Compare Maps" drop-down menu: Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Idaho, Maine (towns), Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and West Virginia.

Precinct-level thematic maps for key Senate contests from 2002 -- Cleland-Chambliss in Georgia and Dole-Bowles in North Carolina-- have been added to the interactive maps.
These maps show head-to-head contests and exclude third party votes.

Louisiana Get-Out-The-Vote Maps

FairVote2020 has developed an interactive map showing turnout rates for African-American voters in Louisiana. The map shows African American turnout rates in the 2000 presidential contest. Over 400,000 voting age African Americans in Louisiana did not vote in the November 2000 election.

You can zoom in on the map to view precinct-level turnout rates for 50 of the 64 parishes, where we were able to match political data to geographic precinct boundaries.

Other maps can be reached by clicking on "Compare Maps" to the left. These additional maps include census data on race, ethnicity and income.

African-American Turnout in 2000 Presidential Election

At a scale of about 10 miles, the number of non-voting African Americans over 18 (registered and not registered) is displayed in purple boxes. When you click on ZOOM TO and then click on the map -- voter election and demographic data for the precinct selected will appear in a table below the map. Click on INFO and then click on the map for more detailed data.

Precinct-level turnout and election data could note be matched to geographic boundary files for the following parishes:

ASCENSION, CALCASIEU, CALDWELL, EAST CARROLL, FRANKLIN, JACKSON, MADISON, POINTE COUPEE, RAPIDES, RICHLAND, ST. TAMMANY, TENSAS, UNION, and WEBSTER.

These precincts, along with the precincts with missing or unreliable info in other parishes, are left blank in the map.
