As of December 1, 2012, the FairPlan project has prepared local-level election plans (based on the 2010 Census) for community groups, elected officials, and government entities in about 100 jurisdictions. We have developed complete legislative and congressional plans for Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Virginia and South Carolina and partial plans for clients in a half-dozen other states. In 2011, we testified in voting rights trials in Albuquerque, NM and Albany, NY and currently provide expert testimony in six ongoing Section 2 Voting Rights Act lawsuits.
During the 2000's, we testified in federal court or were deposed in about 15 redistricting lawsuits and provided technical assistance in a dozen others. We prepared over 250 election plans (multiple drafts) -- primarily at the request of minority communities involved in local level redistricting (25 states). We produced 30 interactive maps and over 10,000 Adobe PDF precinct maps leading up to the 2004 general election.
Since then, we updated the interactive maps with 2004 to 2006 precinct-level data for California, Georgia, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Mexico, South Carolina, Texas, and Wisconsin (plus Maine and Michigan townships).
Note that several other state map applications include 2002 through early 2004 precinct/precinct proxy voter data -- Arkansas, Florida, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Oklahoma, and North Carolina.
We've also updated the interactive maps with party affiliation maps for Congress and state legislatures to reflect the 2006 election.
